About the Role
The Witbank Hospital is seeking a dedicated Professional Nurse Grade 1-2 for the Neuro Surgical Unit. Situated in the Nkangala District, this role plays a critical part in providing high-quality, specialized nursing care to patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures. The Professional Nurse will work closely with a team of healthcare providers, ensuring that every patient receives holistic care tailored to their unique needs. What You’ll Do
- Provide optimal and holistic specialized nursing care within a professional and legal framework.
- Deliver comprehensive health care services in the Neuro Surgical Unit.
- Manage resources efficiently to ensure quality patient care.
- Supervise and implement patient care standards while participating in quality improvement programs.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other stakeholders to enhance patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with Infection Prevention and Control policies.
- Maintain and check the functionality of medical equipment.
- Coordinate patient management activities according to established protocols.
- Engage in staff development and performance management initiatives.
- Report any patient safety incidents and challenges within the unit.
- Work effectively with a diverse team, respecting cultural and individual differences.
What You’ll Need
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Basic qualification accredited with the SANC allowing registration as a Professional Nurse and Midwifery.
- Post-basic qualification in Neuro Surgical Nursing Science, accredited with the SANC.
- Minimum of four years of experience in nursing for Grade 1 or fourteen years for Grade 2, post-registration with the SANC.
- At least ten years of experience in the specialty after obtaining the post-basic qualification.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent supervisory and teaching abilities.
- Ability to function independently and prioritize work effectively.
