About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Professional Nurse Grade 1-2 (PN-B1-2) in Ophthalmology to join the team at Rob Ferreira Hospital, located in the vibrant Ehlanzeni District of Mpumalanga. What You’ll Do
- Provide comprehensive health care services in the Ophthalmology Unit, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
- Supervise nursing staff and implement patient care standards to enhance service delivery.
- Participate in quality improvement programs and report any incidents related to patient safety.
- Manage resources effectively and ensure that all equipment is functional and ready for use.
- Foster effective and cooperative working relationships with diverse teams in the healthcare setting.
- Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control policies while promoting Batho Pele Principles and the Patients’ Rights Charter.
- Plan and organize your work along with support personnel for optimal patient management.
What You’ll Need
- Senior Certificate/Grade 12 qualification or equivalent.
- Basic qualification accredited with the SANC, allowing registration as a Professional Nurse and Midwifery (2026).
- A post-basic nursing qualification in Ophthalmology Nursing Science, accredited with the SANC, lasting at least one year.
- Minimum of four years’ experience for Grade 1; fourteen years for Grade 2, with significant experience in Ophthalmology.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills, along with good supervisory and teaching abilities.
