What You’ll Do

  • Provide optimal, holistic specialized nursing care within a professional and legal framework.
  • Deliver comprehensive health care services in the Paediatric/Child Health Unit.
  • Manage resources effectively and efficiently while ensuring quality patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement programs and contribute to enhancing patient care standards.
  • Supervise and implement nursing care standards in compliance with relevant laws and policies.
  • Foster constructive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with Infection Prevention and Control policies.
  • Ensure functionality and readiness of medical equipment at all times.
  • Prioritize and coordinate patient management activities according to established protocols.
  • Organize personal work and that of support personnel to ensure proper nursing care.
  • Engage in staff development and performance management initiatives.
  • Report patient safety incidents and address challenges within the unit.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds while adhering to Batho-Pele Principles and the Patient’s Right Charter.

What You’ll Need

  • Senior Certificate/Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • Basic qualification accredited with the SANC in accordance with Government Notice R425 (Diploma/Degree in General Nursing).
  • Post-basic nursing qualification in Paediatric/Child Health Nursing Science accredited with the SANC (minimum 1-year duration).
  • Grade 1: Minimum of four years of appropriate nursing experience post-registration with SANC.
  • Grade 2: Minimum of fourteen years of appropriate nursing experience post-registration, with at least ten years in Paediatric/Child Health.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Good supervisory and teaching abilities.
  • Capacity to function independently and effectively prioritize work.
