What You’ll Do

  • Provide comprehensive urology services, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care.
  • Perform surgical procedures and manage ward rounds as part of the urology team.
  • Participate in after-hours work and commuted overtime as required.
  • Conduct morbidity and mortality reviews and support clinical governance activities.
  • Collaborate on outreach services to district hospitals, enhancing access to care.
  • Mentor and train registrars, medical officers, interns, and medical students.
  • Engage in clinical research and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop protocols and standard operating procedures in line with provincial guidelines.

What You’ll Need

  • Appropriate qualification allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Urology.
  • For Grade 1: No experience required post-registration with HPCSA.
  • For Grade 2: At least 5 years of relevant experience after registration.
  • For Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience after registration.
  • Valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB) and willingness to travel between facilities.
  • Strong knowledge and clinical expertise in all aspects of urology care.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills for training medical students and staff.
  • Excellent communication and administrative skills.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in electronic health record systems.
