What You’ll Do
- Oversee the management of gastroenterology services and ensure compliance with patient care standards.
- Manage patients admitted to a level 2/3 package of service facility.
- Develop and implement clinical guidelines and protocols to enhance service delivery.
- Participate in academic and training programs for continuous professional development.
- Conduct clinical audits and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with hospital management to maintain efficient patient care services.
- Conduct quarterly reviews and final assessments as part of the Performance Management and Development System.
What You’ll Need
- Appropriate qualifications allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Gastroenterology.
- A valid work permit for non-South African applicants.
- A sound knowledge of medical ethics and current health regulations.
- Experience in multidisciplinary management and teamwork within a medical discipline.
- Strong clinical skills in consultations, history taking, assessment, and management.
- Ability to work independently, under pressure, and beyond normal working hours.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in teaching and guiding junior staff within the department.
