What You’ll Do

• Oversee the management of gastroenterology services and ensure compliance with patient care standards.
• Manage patients admitted to a level 2/3 package of service facility.
• Develop and implement clinical guidelines and protocols to enhance service delivery.
• Participate in academic and training programs for continuous professional development.
• Conduct clinical audits and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with hospital management to maintain efficient patient care services.
• Conduct quarterly reviews and final assessments as part of the Performance Management and Development System.

What You’ll Need

• Appropriate qualifications allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Gastroenterology.
• A valid work permit for non-South African applicants.
• A sound knowledge of medical ethics and current health regulations.
• Experience in multidisciplinary management and teamwork within a medical discipline.
• Strong clinical skills in consultations, history taking, assessment, and management.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and beyond normal working hours.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in teaching and guiding junior staff within the department.
