What You’ll Do
- Supervise and manage the Cardiothoracic Surgery department, ensuring high standards of patient care.
- Execute clinical duties proficiently, supporting the institution’s aims and objectives.
- Manage patients admitted to the level 2/3 service facilities.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of surgical guidelines and protocols.
- Participate actively in clinical audits and contribute to continuous professional development.
- Provide leadership and support to hospital management for efficient patient care.
- Conduct quarterly performance reviews and final assessments as part of the Performance Management and Development System.
What You’ll Need
- Appropriate qualifications for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- A valid work permit for non-South Africans.
- Sound knowledge of medical ethics and multidisciplinary management.
- Proven experience in the medical discipline as outlined by the grading system.
- Excellent skills in consultation, clinical assessment, and management.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure while maintaining effective communication.
- Competency in teaching and guiding junior staff within the department.
