What You’ll Do

• Supervise and manage the Cardiothoracic Surgery department, ensuring high standards of patient care.
• Execute clinical duties proficiently, supporting the institution’s aims and objectives.
• Manage patients admitted to the level 2/3 service facilities.
• Assist in the preparation and implementation of surgical guidelines and protocols.
• Participate actively in clinical audits and contribute to continuous professional development.
• Provide leadership and support to hospital management for efficient patient care.
• Conduct quarterly performance reviews and final assessments as part of the Performance Management and Development System.

What You’ll Need

• Appropriate qualifications for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• A valid work permit for non-South Africans.
• Sound knowledge of medical ethics and multidisciplinary management.
• Proven experience in the medical discipline as outlined by the grading system.
• Excellent skills in consultation, clinical assessment, and management.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure while maintaining effective communication.
• Competency in teaching and guiding junior staff within the department.
