What You’ll Do

  • Lead the Psychiatric Department by providing strategic management and oversight of clinical services.
  • Ensure effective clinical governance and quality management standards are met.
  • Respond to medical and legal incidents, promoting patient safety and compliance.
  • Manage departmental resources effectively, including human, financial, and material assets.
  • Oversee the training and development of medical staff, including Registrars and Interns.
  • Plan and implement outreach and support services for the community.
  • Advocate for continuous quality improvement within psychiatric services.

What You’ll Need

  • A qualification allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Psychiatry.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience as a Medical Specialist post-registration with HPCSA.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to work overtime as required by operational needs.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory frameworks, healthcare standards, and evidence-based clinical care.
  • Proven experience in supervising and training healthcare personnel.
  • Competence in managing financial resources and leading diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
