What You’ll Do
- Conduct initial assessments and refer employees to EAP contracted Service Providers for further management.
- Offer trauma debriefing after critical incidents to support staff.
- Coordinate stress management and resilience-building workshops.
- Conduct exit interviews with employees referred by Service Benefits.
- Oversee individual and organizational wellness initiatives according to the DPSA EHW Strategic Framework.
- Monitor and coordinate sports and recreational activities within the department.
- Manage the health-related cases of HIV, STI, and TB, ensuring appropriate support and care.
- Implement workplace HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) campaigns to encourage early detection and treatment.
- Organize health awareness sessions and screenings in alignment with national health campaigns.
- Facilitate health risk assessments and coordinate SHERQ committee meetings.
- Support employees dealing with chronic illnesses and manage injury on duty consultations.
What You’ll Need
- A recognized NQF Level 6 qualification in Social Work or Psychology.
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in employee health and wellness, with at least 2 years at a senior practitioner level or equivalent.
- Active registration with a professional body such as SACSSP or HPCSA.
- Basic knowledge of Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP) is essential.
- Understanding of the Public Service Act, Public Service Regulation, and DPSA EHW Strategic Framework.
- Strong counselling and support referral knowledge, along with conflict resolution skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders.
- Proven organizational, planning, and execution skills.
- Report writing skills and a valid driver’s license (consideration for applicants with disabilities).
