About the Role
The Department of Transport and Public Works is seeking a reliable and dedicated Tradesman Aid based at the Head Office in Cape Town, located on the premises of Lentegeur Hospital. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the maintenance and repair operations that keep our facilities running smoothly. By performing essential minor maintenance tasks and assisting with various repairs, you will directly contribute to the safety and functionality of public services that benefit the community.

What You’ll Do
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks across various facilities.
- Support the team in emergency breakdown repairs, including after-hours work.
- Help with the installation of plant and equipment, as well as modifications to existing structures.
- Clear work areas post-maintenance to ensure a safe and tidy environment.
- Ensure tools and materials are readily available for ongoing tasks.
- Collaborate with Artisans to execute their duties effectively.
What You’ll Need
- Minimum educational qualification of Grade 10 or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Building, Plumbing, Carpentry, or Aircon/Refrigeration.
- Experience in a multi-functional workshop environment is preferred.
- Willingness to travel throughout the Western Cape Province.
- Physical fitness to perform manual labor effectively.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to handle tools competently.
