About the Role
The Department of Agriculture is seeking a dedicated Town & Regional Planner for the Spatial Planning role, based in Alfred Nzo District Municipality. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that municipalities adhere to effective spatial planning in accordance with the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act 16 of 2013 (SPLUMA) and other relevant land legislation. What You’ll Do
- Monitor and support municipalities to ensure effective spatial planning in line with SPLUMA.
- Manage and motivate resources to achieve the Directorate’s objectives and departmental goals.
- Assist municipalities in administering land use management according to SPLUMA regulations.
- Help manage and control the budget and cash flow for the district in compliance with financial management prescripts.
- Support the Directorate in identifying, analyzing, and resolving risks associated with land use and planning.
What You’ll Need
- National Senior Certificate and an undergraduate qualification (NQF level 7) in Urban/Town and Regional Planning or a relevant field.
- Compulsory registration with the South African Council of Planners (SACPLAN) as a professional Town and Regional Planner upon appointment.
- A minimum of three years of post-qualification experience in Town and Regional Planning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
- Capability to interpret and advise on SPLUMA and other developmental issues.
- Willingness to work under pressure and travel as needed.
