What You’ll Do
- Operate the switchboard efficiently, managing incoming and outgoing calls.
- Transfer calls to the appropriate extensions and provide relevant information to callers.
- Record all outgoing calls and maintain accurate records for future reference.
- Identify and report any faults with telephone equipment to your supervisor.
- Compile procurement requisitions related to switchboard operations and submit invoices for payment.
- Assist in the arrangement of telephone instruments for new employees and replace faulty equipment as needed.
- Help maintain the telephone register and support the supervisor with administrative tasks related to the switchboard.
- Participate in quarterly audits of telephones and communication lines.
- Act as a backup for colleagues in the section and respond to inquiries as needed.
What You’ll Need
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4 qualification recognized by SAQA.
- Sound knowledge of switchboard operations and the ability to operate switchboard machinery.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills.
