What You’ll Do
- Coordinate the sampling of diagnostic materials for laboratory analysis.
- Provide professional guidance to clients regarding laboratory services and sample submissions.
- Conduct thorough laboratory investigations and necropsies to diagnose animal health issues.
- Develop test reports with professional recommendations for clients.
- Investigate disease outbreaks on farms and provide technical advice to peers.
- Ensure compliance with technical and quality requirements, including ISO 17025 standards.
- Participate in departmental accreditation initiatives and implement occupational health and safety measures.
- Manage and supervise subordinates while adhering to departmental policies.
- Compile comprehensive reports for management review.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF 8 BVSc/BVMCh Degree recognized by SAQA.
- Compulsory registration with the South African Veterinary Council.
- One to two years of post-qualification experience in veterinary practice.
- Understanding of the Animal Diseases Act (Act 35 of 1984) and the Meat Safety Act (Act 40 of 2000).
- Knowledge of import and export protocols related to animal health.
- Familiarity with the Animal Disease Eradication Schemes of South Africa.
- Proficiency in computer literacy, financial management, and analytical communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license.
