What You’ll Do

• Coordinate the sampling of diagnostic materials for laboratory analysis.
• Provide professional guidance to clients regarding laboratory services and sample submissions.
• Conduct thorough laboratory investigations and necropsies to diagnose animal health issues.
• Develop test reports with professional recommendations for clients.
• Investigate disease outbreaks on farms and provide technical advice to peers.
• Ensure compliance with technical and quality requirements, including ISO 17025 standards.
• Participate in departmental accreditation initiatives and implement occupational health and safety measures.
• Manage and supervise subordinates while adhering to departmental policies.
• Compile comprehensive reports for management review.

What You’ll Need

• An NQF 8 BVSc/BVMCh Degree recognized by SAQA.
• Compulsory registration with the South African Veterinary Council.
• One to two years of post-qualification experience in veterinary practice.
• Understanding of the Animal Diseases Act (Act 35 of 1984) and the Meat Safety Act (Act 40 of 2000).
• Knowledge of import and export protocols related to animal health.
• Familiarity with the Animal Disease Eradication Schemes of South Africa.
• Proficiency in computer literacy, financial management, and analytical communication skills.
• A valid driver’s license.
