As a State Advocate, you will play an essential role in the Criminal Justice System, particularly in the dedicated Sexual Offences Courts. What You’ll Do

  • Institute and conduct criminal proceedings on behalf of the State.
  • Study case dockets and decide on the institution of proceedings.
  • Prepare complex court documents, including charge sheets.
  • Present the State’s case in court, including evidence and cross-examinations.
  • Track and facilitate cases through the Criminal Justice System.
  • Manage court rolls at dedicated Sexual Offences Courts.
  • Build and maintain functional relationships with stakeholders.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff and relevant role-players.
  • Submit monthly performance reports, including statistical data.

What You’ll Need

  • An LLB or appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors.
  • Right of appearance as per the NPA Act.
  • A minimum of five years’ post-qualification legal experience in prosecution or litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of Sexual Offences and Criminal Procedure.
  • Competence in drafting complex legal documents.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions confidently.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and computer literacy.
  • A valid driver’s license.
