What You’ll Do

  • Provide specialist anaesthesia services on a sessional basis, ensuring optimal patient care.
  • Conduct perioperative anaesthesia assessments for a variety of complex cases.
  • Offer expert consultative services on anaesthesia-related matters within the hospital.
  • Assist with preoperative evaluations in wards and during clinics.
  • Maintain and uphold clinical, professional, and ethical standards in all practices.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care and resource usage.
  • Engage in auditing departmental activities and service outcomes to drive quality improvement.
  • Participate actively in departmental teaching programs for medical students and residents.
  • Contribute to both academic and clinical administrative functions as needed.

What You’ll Need

  • A Senior Certificate (Matric) and an MBCHB or equivalent qualification registered with the HPCSA.
  • Fellowship in Anaesthesiology (FCA (SA) or MMEd) and current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Specialist Anaesthesiologist.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Specialist in Anaesthesiology for Grade 2, and 10 years for Grade 3.
  • Proven skills in Clinical Anaesthesia, including emergency care and pain management.
  • Strong ability to supervise and teach junior medical staff.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to teamwork and the ability to thrive in high-pressure environments.
