About the Role
The Department of Education is seeking passionate and skilled individuals to fill the role of Chief Occupational Therapist Grade 1 at Letaba Special School in the Mopani West District and Bosele School for the Blind in the Sekhukhune South District. In these vital positions, you will work closely with a dedicated team to provide essential support to learners with severe to profound intellectual disabilities (LSPID). What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with the transversal team to deliver support to designated schools
- Conduct assessments for learners with severe to profound intellectual disabilities
- Provide relevant therapeutic interventions to students and their families
- Monitor and report on learners’ progress, ensuring effective implementation of learning programmes
- Train teachers on proper assessment techniques and therapeutic sessions
- Advocate for quality educational access for learners with disabilities
- Support the District in developing and implementing Inclusive Education strategies
- Provide additional support to other community learners as needed
What You’ll Need
- An NQF level 7 qualification in Occupational Therapy, as recognized by SAQA
- Valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Occupational Therapy field
- In-depth knowledge of education legislation, particularly around Inclusive Education
- Strong ability to work collaboratively within a team and engage with stakeholders
- Initiative and problem-solving skills, especially under pressure
- A valid driver’s licence and functional computer literacy
