What You’ll Do

  • Oversee the administration of the Carbon Tax and ensure effective implementation.
  • Coordinate with SARS for verification processes related to carbon tax compliance.
  • Facilitate workshops and consultations to enhance reporting quality and compliance.
  • Represent the department at intergovernmental and technical forums on GHG reporting and carbon tax.
  • Manage data validation and verification procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare verification reports to support carbon tax liability assessments.
  • Develop and refine emissions reporting methodologies and tools for regulated activities.
  • Conduct periodic audits of data systems and reporting processes to ensure quality assurance.
  • Train internal teams and external stakeholders on quality assurance and compliance standards.
  • Prepare an annual report on the state of carbon tax and emissions accounting, with recommendations for improvement.

What You’ll Need

  • Master’s Degree (NQF 9) in Chemical Engineering, Natural or Environmental Sciences, or a relevant qualification recognized by SAQA.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a related field, particularly in environmental issues and carbon tax legislation.
  • Strong understanding of emissions estimation methodologies and independent verification processes.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and data management skills.
  • Familiarity with corporate GHG reporting frameworks and climate change mitigation strategies.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to effectively convey technical information.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to regulatory integrity.
