The National Prosecuting Authority is seeking a Senior Public Prosecutor to join its dedicated team in Mthatha, specifically in Tsolo. What You’ll Do

• Manage and supervise the allocation of work for lower-level prosecutors and trainees.
• Train prosecutors and stakeholders in the preparation of case dockets and conducting criminal proceedings.
• Represent the State in all courts, presenting and assisting in the prosecution of cases.
• Lead and cross-examine witnesses, addressing the court on matters related to convictions.
• Handle representations and complaints in accordance with legal protocols.
• Collaborate with the Chief Prosecutor and Director of Public Prosecutions to achieve strategic goals.
• Perform administrative duties in line with the NPA’s code of conduct and policy directives.
• Promote community involvement and partner integration within the criminal justice framework.

What You’ll Need

• An LLB degree or an appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion.
• A minimum of eight (8) years post-qualification legal experience.
• At least five (5) years of experience in legal practice is an added advantage.
• Demonstrable competency in acting independently, professionally, and with integrity.
• Strong management skills with the ability to guide and train prosecutors.
• Proficiency in prosecuting, guiding investigations, and drafting charge sheets and complex court documents.
• Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
