What You’ll Do
- Provide legal opinions and research applicable legal principles related to departmental matters.
- Draft, negotiate, and vet contracts and memoranda of understanding (MoU).
- Conduct thorough research on policies, legislation, and legal principles.
- Advise on legal documentation and mentor junior staff in legal drafting.
- Participate in litigation processes, including preparing briefs and appearing in court.
- Facilitate the drafting of cabinet memoranda and pilot legislation through parliamentary processes.
- Manage legal administrative inquiries and liaise with stakeholders on legal matters.
What You’ll Need
- An LLB degree.
- At least 8 years of appropriate post-qualification legal experience.
- Admission as an Attorney or Advocate of the Bar Council.
- In-depth knowledge of the South African legal system and legal interpretation.
- Experience in providing legal opinions and drafting contracts.
- Strong research, analytical, and legal drafting skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
