The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment is looking for two dedicated Senior Forestry Regulation Officers to join their team. Based in the picturesque regions of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, this role plays a crucial part in the administration and enforcement of the National Forests Act (NFA) and the National Veld and Forest Fires Act (NVFFA). What You’ll Do

• Implement the National Forests Act and monitor compliance with forestry regulations.
• Process and administer NFA licenses for forest resources and protected trees.
• Conduct evaluations of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) impacting natural forests.
• Implement and coordinate the National Veld and Forest Fires Act, promoting fire protection associations.
• Facilitate stakeholder participation and organize awareness campaigns on forestry regulations.
• Provide administrative support within the unit and compile monthly and quarterly reports.

What You’ll Need

• A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Forestry, Environmental Management/Sciences, or a relevant qualification recognized by SAQA.
• A minimum of two years’ experience in the forestry sector or a related field dealing with natural vegetation.
• Knowledge of the National Forests Act and the National Veld and Forest Fires Act.
• Strong computer literacy and excellent communication skills, including verbal, presentation, and report writing.
• Good interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and under pressure.
• A valid driving license and willingness to travel.
