What You’ll Do

• Monitor compliance with aquaculture legislation related to food safety.
• Ensure marine aquaculture farms adhere to the Aquaculture Marine Fish Food Safety Programme.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of shellfish biotoxins and microbiological quality.
• Provide technical advice in the drafting and implementation of aquaculture legislation and policies.
• Guide industry stakeholders on AMFFSP compliance.
• Contribute to the creation of guidelines, standards, and relevant documents.
• Manage and distribute the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS) sampling schedule.
• Draft and implement agreements related to the AMFFSP.
• Promote environmental education and awareness around aquaculture practices.
• Organize site visits to aquaculture farms and compile detailed reports.
• Represent the department in meetings and workshops concerning AMFFSP.

What You’ll Need

• An Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Environmental Management or a relevant qualification recognized by SAQA.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a related field.
• Knowledge of the Marine Living Resource Act, 1998, and South African food safety legislation.
• Experience in laboratory audit procedures and data analysis.
• Familiarity with aquaculture and food safety controls.
• Skills in project and contract management.
• Strong administrative skills and experience with database management.
