As a Forestry Service Aid, you will play an essential role in various silviculture functions. Your work will not only involve the practical aspects of forestry, such as planting and weeding, but also the critical tasks of pest control and fire protection. What You’ll Do

• Assist with silviculture functions within plantations and indigenous forests.
• Rehabilitate degraded sites to promote healthy ecosystems.
• Conduct marking of plots, counting, and marking of trees.
• Participate in coppice reduction and update work-related registers.
• Maintain conservation zones and remove alien species.
• Perform fire protection and suppression duties.
• Control pest and weed infections, ensuring protection of infrastructure.
• Support infrastructure maintenance and harvesting services, including log marking and pole measuring.
• Propagate plants and trees, keeping accurate records of plant growth.
• Produce and process poles, handling cutting, drying, and treatment.

What You’ll Need

• A minimum qualification of Grade 09 (NQF level 1) or equivalent.
• No prior experience is required, making this an excellent opportunity for those eager to learn.
• Basic knowledge of planting and firefighting techniques.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to plan and execute tasks effectively and work well in a team.
• A sense of responsibility, self-discipline, and commitment to teamwork.
