What You’ll Do

• Render commercial activities in state forest plantations to enhance productivity.
• Implement operational plans and ensure quality assurance of work done by service providers.
• Develop management plans and assist in compiling annual plans of operations.
• Conduct physical verification for state forest plantations and monitor compliance with management processes.
• Prepare detailed weekly and monthly reports on plantation activities.
• Implement and track the Audit Action Plan, maintaining records of evidence.
• Create job opportunities through the Expanded Public Works Programme.
• Protect plantations from fires, livestock, and pests, ensuring their health and sustainability.
• Assist in enforcing and promoting legislation related to forestry and conservation.
• Participate in stakeholder engagements and conduct awareness campaigns about forestry initiatives.
• Supervise and manage employees, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.

What You’ll Need

• A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or a related field recognized by SAQA.
• A minimum of two years’ experience in forestry or a relevant field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the National Forests Act and related environmental legislation.
• Strong understanding of forest and environmental management practices.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven people management and empowerment abilities.
• Proficiency in financial management and project management.
• Good planning and organizing skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
• A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
