What You’ll Do

  • Lead conservation patrols to ensure the protection of the nature reserves and their resources.
  • Manage fencing inspections and repairs to maintain reserve boundaries.
  • Oversee visitor behavior to promote compliance with reserve regulations.
  • Assist in fire management and emergency services when necessary.
  • Conduct ecological monitoring and collect data to support biodiversity efforts.
  • Participate in programs aimed at ecological rehabilitation, including soil erosion controls and alien plant removal.
  • Collaborate with Wildlife Management on various conservation management initiatives.
  • Engage in administrative tasks to support departmental operations.

What You’ll Need

  • An NQF 4 (Grade 12) qualification or equivalent as recognized by SAQA.
  • A National Diploma in Nature Conservation or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid SAPS Firearm Competency Certificate.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in the Nature Conservation field.
  • A valid driver’s license (with exceptions for persons with disabilities).
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors.
  • No criminal record and a commitment to ethical practices.
  • Strong knowledge of nature reserve management and conservation legislation.
  • Proficient computer skills and excellent communication abilities.
