About the Role
The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning is seeking a passionate Environmental Officer Production Grade A to join their dedicated team in Modimolle, located in the Waterberg District. This pivotal role focuses on enhancing environmental sustainability through the development and management of capacity-building programs in the community. By facilitating multi-stakeholder seminars and managing initiatives like the greenest municipality competition, you will play an instrumental part in fostering a greener, healthier environment for all residents.
Working closely with various stakeholders, you will be integral in implementing local government support strategies and the Municipal Environmental Integrated Development Plan (IDP) toolkit. What You’ll Do
- Develop and manage environmental capacity-building programs for communities
- Facilitate seminars and indabas with multiple stakeholders
- Organize and oversee the greenest municipality competition
- Implement local government support strategies and the Municipal Environmental IDP toolkit
- Represent the Environmental Branch in district forums focused on environmental management
- Facilitate the formation and functioning of environmental stakeholder forums
- Compile reports for the sub-directorate on environmental initiatives
- Support the implementation framework for effective environmental governance
- Perform necessary administrative functions related to environmental projects
What You’ll Need
- An NQF 6 qualification in Nature Conservation, Environmental Management, or Environmental Sciences (or equivalent)
- A valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and protocols
- Familiarity with the Integrated Development Planning (IDP) process and relevant legislation
- Understanding of environmental capacity-building approaches and community conservation
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to facilitate stakeholder engagement processes
- Proficiency in computer applications and report writing
- Excellent planning, organizing, and interpersonal skills
- Capability to work under pressure and manage projects effectively
