The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment is looking for an Environmental Officer Specialized Production to join their team in Polokwane. What You’ll Do
- Manage the EIA process, including drafting and reviewing environmental authorizations and conditions.
- Provide technical and procedural advice to stakeholders regarding environmental impact management.
- Conduct site inspections and compile detailed reports on findings.
- Evaluate environmental authorization applications and assess compliance with established norms and standards.
- Review and evaluate Environmental Management Programmes for various applications, including mining and municipal projects.
- Manage resources effectively in accordance with relevant directives and legislation.
- Facilitate communication between departments and stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF 6 qualification in Natural Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Law, Environmental Science, Biodiversity, or an equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.
- Registration with EAPASA as required under S24H of NEMA.
- Between three and five years of experience in the Environmental Quality Management field.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and impact assessment regulations.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications and project management.
