What You’ll Do
- Administer compliance monitoring in accordance with Environmental Authorisations and Environmental Management Plans.
- Undertake compliance enforcement operations related to biodiversity conservation.
- Coordinate and participate in compliance promotion and awareness initiatives.
- Conduct administrative functions and manage related tasks effectively.
- Implement procedural systems and conduct inspections proactively and reactively.
- Record and respond to public complaints regarding environmental non-compliance.
- Plan and conduct inspections based on public complaints and report on compliance status.
- Provide support to local and national government compliance inspection structures.
- Investigate environmental crimes and manage related case dockets.
- Participate in and coordinate counter-poaching operations.
- Manage resources in line with relevant legislative directives.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF 6 qualification in Nature Conservation, Natural Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Law, Policing, or an equivalent recognized by SAQA.
- Three to five years of experience in the Environmental Compliance & Enforcement field.
- Successful completion of the Environmental Management Inspectors (EMI) course is an advantage.
- A valid driver’s license is essential.
- Strong knowledge of the Constitution and practical experience with the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).
- Understanding of environmental legislation, administrative enforcement, and case docket management.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in project management and conflict management.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, along with computer literacy.
