What You’ll Do
- Provide general agricultural advice on crop production and irrigation to farmers
- Supervise municipal officials and coordinate departmental activities within the municipality
- Support farmers through various programs including CASP and Land Care
- Promote the implementation of best farming practices and the latest technologies
- Facilitate the transfer of farming skills at farms, feedlots, and slaughtering facilities
- Maintain an updated database of farmers and compile monthly and quarterly reports
- Stay informed on new developments and policies related to agricultural practices
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 certificate plus a recognized 4-year BSc Degree in Agriculture or a Post Graduate Diploma in Agriculture, majoring in crop/plant production (NQF Level 8)
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience in extension and advisory services
- Registration with a Professional Council (SACNASP) is compulsory
- Strong knowledge of extension methodology and project planning processes
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficient in computer use
- A valid driver’s license
