What You’ll Do
- Conduct regular safety audits and compile statistics related to Occupational Health and Safety matters.
- Implement and monitor SHERQ-related activities and ensure proper integration of the EHWP framework.
- Facilitate hazard and risk identification processes to promote workplace safety.
- Champion the investigation of incidents and ensure compliance with OHS legislation, reporting findings to stakeholders.
- Coordinate safety training and awareness programs for employees across the department.
- Develop and submit quarterly reports on fatalities, serious injuries, and other relevant OHS issues.
- Collaborate with managers to identify and report defects related to OHS and Facilities.
- Assist with operational planning to further enhance the SHERQ function within the department.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification.
- A National Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Hygiene, Safety Management, or a relevant field.
- Two to three years of functional experience in Occupational Health and Safety and policy implementation.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication, planning, and decision-making skills.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
