What You’ll Do

• Conduct basic and applied research in agronomy to support provincial agricultural initiatives.
• Develop and implement research methodologies, policies, and procedures.
• Identify gaps in current agricultural practices and create effective interventions.
• Collaborate with extension and advisory services to provide training and guidance to beneficiaries.
• Compile scientific and technical reports for publication in journals and popular media.
• Mentor and train technicians and other staff to promote skills development.
• Supervise scientific work ensuring adherence to sound scientific principles.

What You’ll Need

• A Grade 12 certificate and a postgraduate degree in crop or plant production (NQF Level 8) or a relevant 4-year degree.
• A Master’s degree in Agriculture is an advantage.
• Compulsory registration with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP).
• At least four years of experience in agricultural plant/crop research.
• Strong research skills in plant sciences and knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
• A valid driver’s license.
