What You’ll Do

• Conduct field surveys to monitor and evaluate water quality in aquaculture settings.
• Measure critical metrics such as pH, oxygen levels, salinity, temperature, and nutrients.
• Oversee feedlot management and evaluate breeding programs to enhance aquaculture operations.
• Manage day-to-day operations in water quality and animal science laboratories.
• Maintain and calibrate scientific equipment, ensuring safety compliance.
• Input data into national biological and agricultural databases for research purposes.
• Compile detailed technical reports and scientific summaries for stakeholders.
• Provide advisory support and training to local farmers, fishing operations, and interns.

What You’ll Need

• National Diploma (NQF 6) in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Ichthyology, or Zoology recognized by SAQA.
• Valid compulsory registration with SACNASP as a Certificated Natural Scientist.
• Three years of post-qualification technical (scientific) experience.
• Proficiency in scientific methodologies, research and development, and computer-aided applications.
• Strong competencies in data analysis, technical report writing, and project management.
• Excellent communication, team leadership, and networking skills.
• A valid driver’s license is required for this role.
