What You’ll Do

  • Provide expert advice and support on finance and supply chain matters to the Regional Commissioner and senior managers.
  • Oversee the management of financial accounting and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Manage management accounting processes to enhance financial decision-making.
  • Direct the logistics administration to ensure smooth operational flow.
  • Lead procurement and contract management processes, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Oversee the external audit process, ensuring that all financial practices meet regulatory standards.
  • Implement effective risk management strategies to align with the Department’s risk management plan.
  • Manage performance information to support strategic objectives.
  • Ensure effective management of human resources, finances, and departmental assets.

What You’ll Need

  • An undergraduate qualification (NQF level 7) in Accounting, Financial Management, Cost Management Accounting, or an equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.
  • A certificate for entry into the Senior Management Services (SMS) obtained from the National School of Government (NSG) is essential prior to appointment.
  • A minimum of five years of experience at a middle/senior managerial level in a similar environment.
  • Proficient computer skills and a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong understanding of the South African Criminal Justice System and related legislative frameworks such as the Public Finance Management Act and the Correctional Services Act.
  • Excellent financial management, strategic capability, and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to manage people and projects effectively.
