What You’ll Do

• Assist applicants in completing necessary documentation, including the DHA-1590 section B.
• Conduct interviews to verify the identity and background of asylum seekers.
• Refer applicants to relevant organizations, such as the UNHCR, for additional support.
• Issue and manage visas, including initial permits and extensions.
• Oversee the adjudication of asylum applications in line with legal standards.
• Manage resources effectively within the unit, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Provide coaching and guidance to staff on best practices and procedures.

What You’ll Need

• An undergraduate qualification in Law, International Relations, or related fields at NQF level 6.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in law, analysis, or a related environment.
• Basic understanding of the Refugees Act and the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Competence in problem-solving and analytical thinking.
• Computer literacy and the ability to manage administrative tasks efficiently.
• A commitment to integrity, accountability, and service excellence.
