What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic direction for the GCIS Provincial Directorate in alignment with provincial communication objectives.
  • Develop and execute communication campaigns based on national and provincial frameworks.
  • Advocate for the application of government communication standards across provincial stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with government entities and civil society organizations.
  • Participate in communications forums and provide strategic insights during urgent communication needs.
  • Manage and oversee the implementation of risk mitigation plans related to communication strategies.
  • Engage in the audit planning process and respond to audit queries effectively.

What You’ll Need

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF level 7) in Communication, Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Development Communication, or a related field.
  • Completion of the Public Service Senior Management Leadership Programme (Nyukela certificate) endorsed by the National School of Government.
  • A valid driver’s license and proficiency in computer literacy.
  • At least five years of experience at middle or senior management level, with a focus on development communication.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management skills and experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder communication campaigns.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Western Cape Province’s socio-economic dynamics and communication landscape.
