About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Professional Nurse Grade 1 to 2 (Specialty: Mental Health) to join its team in the Theewaterskloof Sub-district. What You’ll Do
- Provide clinical management and nursing care to patients with mental health problems within the Sub-district.
- Support and develop capacity for Primary Health Care (PHC) personnel and students in mental health services.
- Promote community engagement and participation in mental health care delivery.
- Conduct research related to mental health and service delivery.
- Liaise with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders to improve service outcomes.
What You’ll Need
- A Basic R425 qualification or equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- A post-basic nursing qualification in Advanced Psychiatric Nursing Science or a postgraduate diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
- For Grade 1: At least 4 years of experience as a registered Professional Nurse.
- For Grade 2: At least 14 years of experience as a registered Professional Nurse, including 10 years in Psychiatry.
- Valid Code B/EB driver’s license and willingness to rotate and consult with patients at different facilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with computer literacy.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to mental health within the public sector.
