About the Role
The Department of Transport and Public Works is seeking a Principal Personnel Officer to join its team at the Overberg District Office in Caledon. What You’ll Do
- Assist with recruitment and selection processes to attract top talent.
- Handle the advertising of job posts and ensure compliance with relevant policies.
- Conduct DOTS verifications and manage pay and grade progression matters.
- Support performance management processes and provide training in the PERMIS system.
- Collaborate with Pre- and Formal Moderating Committees to oversee performance management strategies.
- Maintain and implement policy documents and provide necessary training.
- Administer human resource management policies and ensure effective PERSAL transactions.
- Offer guidance to management and personnel regarding employment practices.
- Provide general support to supervisors and colleagues in HR functions.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum educational qualification of a Senior Certificate (or equivalent).
- Relevant experience in People Management and PERSAL systems.
- Experience with the E-Recruiting online system is essential.
- A valid Code B/EB/C1 driver’s license and willingness to travel within the Overberg District and beyond.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint.
