As a Network Controller, your primary responsibility will involve managing cabling projects and ensuring the maintenance and repair of network points. Based in Modimolle, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, including external service providers, to rectify faults in the Wide Area Network (WAN). Your contributions will directly impact the quality of IT support available to the public sector in the region, enhancing the overall service experience for citizens.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and oversee local area network cabling projects, ensuring timely maintenance and repairs.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, such as SITA, to rectify WAN faults.
  • Provide first-level support for transversal systems across the department.
  • Maintain and repair hardware, ensuring all equipment is up to date with the latest software.
  • Assist in compiling software and hardware specifications and managing user profiles on the network.
  • Oversee the management of the software update and antivirus server.
  • Maintain records and statistics related to hardware and network infrastructure.
  • Implement new installations and manage helpdesk operations for efficient user support.
  • Provide regular feedback to users and colleagues on technical problem-solving and resources.

What You’ll Need

  • Grade 12 plus an NQF 6 qualification in Information Technology or equivalent as recognized by SAQA.
  • A+ and N+ or MCSE certification is required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of working experience in the Information Technology field.
  • Valid driver’s license (with exceptions for persons with disabilities).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs, networking concepts, and information security.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to manage conflicts and adapt to changing environments.
