The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is seeking a Chief Artisan Grade A: Auto – Electrical based in Motheo. This significant role plays a crucial part in ensuring that technical services and support are effectively managed across various fields and workshops. What You’ll Do
- Manage and support technical services across fields, workshops, and technical offices.
- Oversee maintenance, repairs, inspections, and complex diagnostics within the auto-electrical discipline.
- Ensure compliance with technical, safety, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead Artisan Foremen, Artisans, and technical personnel, while managing resources and assets effectively.
- Provide input into technical procedures, operational plans, and budgets.
- Compile technical and management reports to monitor progress and performance.
- Promote efficient resource utilization and control expenditure.
- Engage with stakeholders to facilitate regular technical meetings and discussions.
- Provide senior technical advice and support while managing staff performance and development.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- A valid driver’s license.
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) in Auto-Electrical.
- At least ten (10) years of experience as an Artisan and/or Artisan Foreman in the relevant trade.
- Experience with vehicles, heavy vehicles, construction plant, and earthmoving equipment.
- A minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role.
- Ability to work in various environments, including offices, workshops, and field sites.
- A post-matric qualification is advantageous.
- Skills in project management, technical diagnostics, quality assurance, and people management.
- Strong communication and planning abilities.
