About the Role
The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is seeking skilled individuals for the position of Artisan Production Grade A: Mechanical. This role is based in Bloemfontein, with additional posts in Motheo, Lejweleputswa, and Thabo Mofutsanyane. What You’ll Do
- Inspect, diagnose, service, maintain, and repair vehicles, plant, and equipment
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance as needed
- Provide breakdown and field support to ensure operational efficiency
- Maintain job cards, maintenance records, and compile relevant reports
- Supervise and mentor support personnel when required
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and technical standards
- Stay updated with technical expertise through continuous development
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of Grade 10 or equivalent
- A valid driver’s license
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) in Diesel Mechanical
- Experience in mechanical maintenance environments is advantageous
- A post-matric qualification will be an added advantage
- Strong technical analysis and fault-finding skills
- Knowledge of diesel, mechanical, basic electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
