About the Opportunity
Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) division is offering a unique opportunity for South African students and graduates to gain hands-on experience as Data Center Technicians. This program provides practical exposure to Microsoft’s global cloud infrastructure, supporting services like Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Bing. Interns will work alongside seasoned technicians and engineers, gaining invaluable insights into modern data center operations.

Key Responsibilities
Interns will:
– Assist in installing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning server and network equipment.
– Learn and adhere to data center policies and procedures.
– Complete assigned support tickets and participate in daily safety briefings.
– Support equipment maintenance and operational activities.
– Collaborate with technical teams across shifts.
– Escalate technical, safety, or security incidents as needed.
– Complete all required technical and safety training.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
– High School Diploma / Grade 12 or equivalent.
– Must be at least 18 years old.
– Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
– Interest in IT equipment or related technology.
– Studying towards a relevant technical qualification.
– Must be a South African citizen or have legal residency and permission to work in South Africa.
Preferred Qualifications:
– CompTIA A+, Server+, or Network+ certifications.
– Basic Structured Cabling certification.
– Ability to work in physically demanding environments.
– Good written and verbal English communication skills.
– Strong willingness to learn and grow technical skills.
– Flexibility to work weekends, shifts, and public holidays when required.
Background Check Requirements
Successful candidates must pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon employment and every two years thereafter.
