What You’ll Do

• Deliver patient-centered Ophthalmology services in a comprehensive and efficient manner.
• Engage in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives to enhance departmental practices.
• Provide teaching and learning opportunities for students and junior staff at under- and postgraduate levels.
• Conduct outreach programs to improve service delivery within the Rural Central Ecosystem.
• Manage financial and physical resources effectively, adhering to corporate governance standards.
• Stay updated with developments in the field of Ophthalmology through continuous education and research.

What You’ll Need

• An appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Ophthalmology.
• Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Ophthalmology.
• For Grade 1: None after HPCSA registration; for Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years of experience; for Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Medical Specialist.
• A valid (Code B/EB or higher) driver’s license.
• Proven competency in managing Ophthalmology cases independently.
• Strong leadership and teamwork abilities, with knowledge of relevant health policies.
• Computer literacy and experience in quality improvement and research methodology.
