What You’ll Do

• Manage acute medical admissions and provide follow-up care for inpatients.
• Offer consultation services to other departments for patients assessed by registrars and Medical Officers.
• Supervise and mentor interns while teaching medical students rotating through the Department of Medicine.
• Participate in academic meetings and ward rounds to share knowledge and insights.
• Liaise effectively with family members of admitted patients to provide updates and support.
• Maintain financial awareness regarding the use of radiological and laboratory investigations.

What You’ll Need

• Appropriate qualification allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
• Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
• For Grade 1: No experience required for South African qualified employees; 1 year of relevant experience for foreign qualified employees.
• For Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Medical Practitioner for South African qualified employees; 6 years for foreign qualified employees.
• For Grade 3: Minimum of 10 years’ experience for South African qualified employees; 11 years for foreign qualified employees.
• A valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
• Completion of Fellowship of the College of Physicians of South Africa FCP (SA) part 1 exam.
• Competency in managing common medical conditions and performing necessary procedures.
• Basic computer literacy skills and effective communication abilities.
