What You’ll Do

  • Supervise and manage the care of geriatric patients, ensuring adherence to healthcare standards.
  • Coordinate and implement clinical guidelines and protocols for geriatrics.

  • Conduct clinical audits and contribute to continuous professional development.
  • Collaborate with hospital management to maintain high standards of patient care.
  • Manage a caseload of patients admitted to a level 2/3 service facility.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior medical staff within the department.

What You’ll Need

  • A relevant medical qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Geriatrics.
  • For Grade 1: No experience required post-registration with HPCSA; for Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years’ experience; for Grade 3: Minimum of 10 years’ experience post-registration.
  • Sound knowledge of medical ethics and multidisciplinary management.
  • Strong clinical skills in consultation, assessment, and overall patient management.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure while engaging effectively with diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
