What You’ll Do
- Provide medical treatment to team members during the expedition.
- Perform minor dental procedures and x-rays when required.
- Conduct stock-takes of food and medication to ensure adequate supplies.
- Order necessary medical and non-technical equipment as needed.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and food storage according to medical regulations.
- Support the team leader in coordinating emergency procedures and training.
- Motivate and encourage fellow team members in a supportive social role.
What You’ll Need
- National Diploma or Degree in Nursing or Certificate in Operational Emergency Care Practitioner or equivalent qualification.
- Registration with the HPCSA or SANC is required.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience, particularly in rural or remote medicine.
- Knowledge of Acute Trauma Life Support and ACLS.
- Familiarity with nursing care processes, statutes, and relevant legal frameworks.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently under pressure and as part of a team.
