What You’ll Do

  • Provide legal advice and opinions on various legal matters to departmental officials.
  • Conduct research on relevant legislation and legal principles impacting the education sector.
  • Draft and amend legal documents, including primary and secondary legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with PAIA, PAJA, and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
  • Assist managers with legal support related to contracts and litigation.
  • Conduct awareness sessions on legal issues and interventions within the education system.
  • Collaborate with other departments to monitor and evaluate the implementation of education legislation.

What You’ll Need

  • An LLB qualification is essential.
  • At least 3 years of post-qualification legal experience.
  • A strong understanding of the South African Constitution and education law, including the Employment of Educators Act and the South African Schools Act.
  • Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and civil procedure rules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management abilities and computer literacy.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
