What You’ll Do

  • Provide secretarial support to judges, including managing their appointments and meetings.
  • Type and file judgments, ensuring timely delivery and proper documentation.
  • Collect and prepare court files for civil and criminal matters.
  • Administer court proceedings by preparing necessary materials, such as the bench book and court rolls.
  • Manage the reception of visitors and handle their queries effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing documents related to court matters.
  • Ensure that all travel and accommodation arrangements for judges are organized and documented.
  • Assist with the preparation of claims and submissions for the judge’s expenses and allowances.

What You’ll Need

  • A Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Completed a minimum of 20 modules towards an LLB, BA, or BCom Law degree.
  • At least one year of secretarial experience.
  • Valid driver’s license (an advantage).
  • Excellent typing skills, including Dictaphone typing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and general computer literacy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure, maintain confidentiality, and pay attention to detail.
  • Good time management and interpersonal skills.
