What You’ll Do

  • Plan and implement specialist orthopaedic services, including outpatient and inpatient care.
  • Coordinate and rationalize specialist services across the Amajuba District and surrounding areas.
  • Liaise with hospital management to enhance the quality of care provided.
  • Facilitate staff training and development initiatives.
  • Support outreach programs to referring hospitals and clinics.
  • Collaborate with Chief Specialists to develop services and improve patient outcomes.
  • Develop training programs for medical, nursing, and allied health services.
  • Create and implement policies and guidelines to facilitate service delivery.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and clinical audits.
  • Engage in clinical research and manage departmental resources effectively.
  • Contribute to senior management and strategic activities as required.
  • Manage the EPMDS for the General Surgery department.

What You’ll Need

  • An appropriate qualification in Health Science (MBCHB).
  • Current registration with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa as a Specialist in Orthopaedics.
  • At least five years of experience as a Medical Specialist in Orthopaedics after HPCSA registration.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in the orthopaedic discipline.
  • Familiarity with health and public service legislation, medical ethics, and epidemiology.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to mentor junior doctors and engage in continuing professional development.
