What You’ll Do

• Plan, develop, and execute GISc projects that align with departmental goals.
• Perform advanced spatial analysis and modeling to identify trends and support decision-making.
• Design and maintain geospatial databases and ensure data quality and compliance.
• Facilitate data collection and integration from various sources.
• Produce maps and visualizations for stakeholders, including custom mapping and web-based GIS services.
• Develop and implement GIS standards and best practices within the department.
• Provide training and support to end-users and promote knowledge sharing.
• Research and innovate new methods and technologies for spatial problem-solving.
• Manage projects, including stakeholder communication and documentation processes.
• Collaborate with teams to integrate GIS into broader systems and initiatives.

What You’ll Need

• A 4-year qualification in GISc (NQF Level 7) recognized by SAQA.
• At least three years of post-qualification GISc professional experience.
• Valid registration with the South African Council for Professional and Technical Surveyors (PLATO) as a GISc Professional.
• Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Strong skills in spatial modeling, data visualization, and geodatabase design.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
• A valid driver’s license and knowledge of relevant legislation.
