What You’ll Do

  • Render catering services by following prescribed menus and dietary plans.
  • Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables, and preparing meat, poultry, and fish.
  • Process and cook prepared ingredients to ensure they are ready for consumption.
  • Serve food in the relevant crockery, adhering to portion control as per dietary allowances.
  • Pack and deliver food to designated areas within the hospital.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting used cutlery and crockery.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure cleanliness standards are met and report any safety concerns.
  • Regularly clean the food processing area and ensure all equipment is properly stored.

What You’ll Need

  • NQF level 1 or 2 (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent) is required.
  • Knowledge of food services and food preparation techniques.
  • Familiarity with operating food processing equipment.
  • Understanding of basic health and safety measures, hygiene, and bacterial contamination control.
  • Basic literacy skills and the ability to measure ingredients accurately.
