What You’ll Do

  • Manage the daily operations of the library, ensuring smooth functionality.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain a comprehensive library collection.
  • Develop and enforce library policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Supervise cataloguing and classification of library materials for efficient access.
  • Oversee library subscriptions and stock management.
  • Compile and present performance reports and library plans.
  • Facilitate the procurement of library equipment and resources.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders for effective service delivery.
  • Lead marketing strategies to promote library services and resources.
  • Organize events and campaigns to raise awareness of library offerings.

What You’ll Need

  • A recognized NQF 6 qualification in Library and Information Science or a related field.
  • 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in library or information services, with at least 2 years at a senior practitioner level.
  • Familiarity with cataloguing and classification standards (e.g., DEWEY, AACR2).
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Project management and report writing abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and experience in financial management.
  • A valid driver’s license is preferred; candidates with disabilities that prevent them from driving will still be considered.
