The Department of Economic Development and Tourism is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Director: Product Development to join their Head Office in Polokwane. This important role is vital in enhancing the province’s eco-tourism initiatives and commercial development strategies. What You’ll Do
- Develop frameworks to guide commercial development within various reserves.
- Create commercial development strategies with clear revenue potentials for each reserve.
- Prepare commercial master plans that align with the Integrated Development Plans (IDPs).
- Conduct eco-tourism business analyses and research market trends in the industry.
- Prepare procurement documents in accordance with public sector policies and guidelines.
- Maintain strong relationships with the Government Technical Advisory Centre (GTAC).
- Develop and manage communication with investors to mobilize support.
- Provide technical support and oversee the procurement process for quality and integrity.
- Research and profile tourism-related products in each reserve.
- Facilitate stakeholder participation to ensure project sustainability.
What You’ll Need
- Grade 12 and an NQF 6 qualification in Tourism, Marketing, Hospitality, Business Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in relevant fields, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
- A valid driver’s license (exceptions for persons with disabilities).
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and the ability to interpret policies and guidelines.
- Strong analytical skills and experience in feasibility studies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management abilities.
- Leadership skills and experience in stakeholder management.
